Are You A Pony Club Winner?
Wednesday, May 03, 2006
The organisers of Horse of the Year Show are looking to commemorate the 50th Prince Philip Cup competition by inviting all the winning teams since the first ever competition, held in 1957, to attend this year’s Horse of the Year Show (4th-8th October at the NEC Arena, Birmingham). The search is now on for winning team members over the last 49 years!
All Prince Philip Cup winning team members and their trainer will be invited to take part in a Champion’s Parade during Sunday night’s Gala performance which will form part of the 50th running of the Prince Philip Cup.
The Pony Club Games was devised by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh who recommended that a competition based on Calvary techniques would be entertaining, visually engaging and enhance rider skills. The Prince Philip Cup was therefore introduced at the 1957 Horse of the Year Show as an enduring challenge trophy and has been an integral part of this world famous equestrian event ever since.
From 1957 to 2005 various teams have claimed the prestigious Pony Club title but were you a member of one of the teams? Or do you know someone who was? If yes, please contact the Horse of the Year Show Press Office on 0870 777 4567 or email press@hoys.co.uk. The search is on!
